For maximum benefit, you can really only ‘perfect’ one of these outcomes at any given time.

1. Performance: You're training for your sport and to be BETTER at whatever it is you're doing. You're pushing heavier weights, running fast, or practicing technique and skill.

2. Aesthetics & Physique: Your goal is to look different. Your training here is viewed as a supplement to your diet, as that will be the priority in changing your body composition.

3. Health & longevity: You're balancing strength, cardio and flexibility work, using all muscle groups, getting enough rest, and hitting high general activity levels.
